Church Facility

History of our current facility:
The current church is actually the third church building occupied by the Methodist in Knoxville, Iowa. This church facility was complete in 1896. In 1964, an education wing was added. Our church facility was renovated, again, in 1997.

ACCESSIBILITY:
Our building is equipped with a full-size commercial elevator and a ground level entrance reached by circular drive with handicapped parking. Handicapped accessible rest rooms can be found on the main floor and lower level. Wheel chair seating is provided in the sanctuary, along with a ramp leading to the chancel platform. Improved lighting and sound aid the visually and hearing impaired. A shower in one of the lower level rest rooms allows us to host overnight groups more comfortably.

FELLOWSHIP/COMMUNITY:
The expanded entryway/narthex allows space for coffee fellowship time following worship, as well as space for receiving lines at special events. Renovated rooms on our lower level provide comfortable, bright space for small groups, Sunday school classes, circle meetings, etc.

FLEXIBILITY:
Moveable walls in several large meeting rooms allow for multiple use for large or small groups. Moveable chancel furnishings will accommodate the varying needs of our traditional and contemporary worship services. Our electronically controlled large sanctuary screen and new computerized video projection system allows us to offer a wide range of multi-media presentations.

STEWARDSHIP OF THE BUILDING:
Our church building is an important tool for ministry. It is our intent to maintain the architectural integrity and beauty of our 1897 sanctuary, while still providing proper upkeep of the building and its infrastructure.
