FUMC Community Outreach

Radio Ministry - KNIA/KRLS 1320 AM carries live broadcast of the 8:30 am Sunday morning church service for those not able to attend.

Almost Free Shop - an affordable price source for clothing, household supplies, tools and furniture.


Good Samaritan Free Clinic -free medical clinic for those without medical insurance coverage.


SHARE - (Self Help and Resource Exchange) provides a low cost food source for community volunteers.

Tools and Blankets - Sends building tools to countries in need of tools for self help, home building and repair projects as well as blankets distributed to those in need.


Habitat for Humanity - provides facilities, leaders, volunteer labor and food for home building projects in the area.

Helping Hands Food Pantry - provides volunteers, food and money to help stock the Helping Hands Food Pantry shelves.

Meals on Wheels - provides volunteer assistance for delivery of meals to Knoxville shut-ins.

Heifer project - donate livestock and poultry to foreign farmers to encourage and train them to be self sufficient.  They in turn are expected to assist others in getting starting in animal production.


Salvation Army Bell ringing - provides facilities, leadership and volunteers for bell ringing during the Christmas Season (over $29,000 raised in 09 with 90% of the funds raised staying in the county).

Thanksgiving Baskets - provides the facilities, leadership, finances, and volunteers to put together baskets for distribution through the community.

Christmas Day Dinner - Provide a Christmas dinner for those alone on Christmas, carry out dinners and delivery to shut-ins when Meals on Wheels are not available.

Christmas Giving - donations are given to missions needing financial aid for education, famine, and health needs.   Gifts are provided to assist local individuals and families.

Where to Now Travelers - pre arranged low cost one day tours of state wide tourist attractions.


Crop Walk - Neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as fighting local hunger.

Mission trips - trips to areas of our country and foreign lands to assist in the construction of homes and other needed projects.  Needed clothing, blankets toys and other supplies are taken along to be distributed.  Members share in other religious experiences and serve as good will ambassadors. 


UMCOR addresses hunger, poverty, sustainable agriculture, international and domestic emergencies, refugee and immigrant concerns, global health issues, and transitional development. United  Methodist hearts and hands are part of every program implemented.
