The Almost Free Shop is operated by
volunteers from the United Methodist Women
(UMW). All items sold from the shop have
been donated by members of our community
and include: clothing sizes for all ages,
toys, seasonal decorations, household
merchandise and tools. The UMW sort,
organize and display these items for
sale. Most clothing items are sold
for fifty cents or less. The
Almost Free Shop also provides the donated
items free to our brothers and sisters in
need.

Financial
assistance with income from the Almost
Free Shop is distributed by need to
different community and national service
projects. Some of those receiving
recent funding were Helping Hands Food
Pantry, KAMA, The Nest, Crisis
Intervention, Bidwell Riverside, Iowa
Nigeria Partnership, Haiti Disaster Relief
Fund, Sudan Emergency, End of Month Meals
in Knoxville, Community Action,
Montgomery Street Pre-School, and
donations of clothing, mittens, hats,
coats, and scarves to the local elementary
schools.
The UMW
financially assists with the purchasing,
sorting, organizing, packaging and
delivering of donated health kits,
school kits and layettes packages to UMCOR
(United Methodist Committee on Relief).
These kits are given to African Countries
in need and the American Red Cross for
distribution to victims of fire, hurricane
earthquakes etc. Each year hundreds
of kits worth thousands of dollars are
sent to those in need.
Volunteers
are always welcomed to help serve our
brothers and sisters.
